Bingara is a rural town of approximately 2000 residents located 150 kilometres north west of Tamworth.
The town is situated on the beautiful Gwydir river and surrounded by the Nandewar ranges.
Bingara is centrally located to the larger rural centres of Armidale, Inverell, Narrabri and Moree.
Bingara has a school (primary and secondary) A new hospital, an aged care facility, a medical centre which bulk bills local residents and a large IGA store.
The Post Office was built in 1879 and is an outstanding double brick building comprising of three large double bedrooms, large dining room, lounge room ,kitchen and double lock up garage attached, a very large screened veranda facing the main street. We also have a 30x15 foot above ground pool with a 6 foot deep end sunk in ground with decking around and a garden shed.
The shop has two terminals and a bright outlook to the main street. The mail sorting area is quite large when compared to some other post offices. An amenities building comprising of male/ female toilets, two storage rooms and a motor bike storage shed.
We have 238 post office boxes and have the contract for the town mail run which expires June 2015.
